Dr. Eric Munson appointed Head of the Department of Industrial and Physical Pharmacy

The College of Pharmacy is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Eric J. Munson as the new Head of the Department of Industrial and Physical Pharmacy. Dr. Munson is currently the Patrick DeLuca Endowed Professor in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Kentucky. His start date is September 1, 2018.


Zhou receives Chaney Family Early Faculty Scholar Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize a Purdue College of Pharmacy faculty member in the first ten years of their career who has demonstrated outstanding scholarship.

Innovation and impact are the primary desired characteristics of the discovery and research program developed by a faculty member nominated for this award. Indicators or measures of the quality and impact of the research include:

Topp receives 2018 Chaney Faculty Scholar award

Dr. Elizabeth Topp is the recipient of the 2018 Chaney Faculty Scholar award. This award is the highest research award given to faculty by the Purdue College of Pharmacy. The award recognizes outstanding research, scholarship or creative activity including professional accomplishments in the recipient's field. Recipients are presented with a plaque and $2,500. The award was established through the generosity of Jeannie (BS 1961) and James B. Chaney.


Byrn receives the Morrill Award

Dr. Stephen Byrn was selected as the 2018 recipient of the Morrill Award, the highest career achievement recognition for a faculty member at Purdue University. He is honored for his excellence and synergies as teacher, scholar and engaged professor over many years! Congratulations Dr. Byrn!

Dr. Sandro Matosevic receives Indiana CTSI PDT award

Doctor Sandro Matosevic has been awarded access to the flow cytometry facility at the Purdue Center for Cancer Research for his proposal, “Molecular nanomachines for reprogramming of innate immunity for personalized cancer immunotherapy.”. He also received an Indiana CTSI PDT award for his project, “Fueling natural killers: translating metabolism into clinically improved cancer immunotherapies.”

Dr. Qi (Tony) Zhou receives NIH/NIAID R01 grant

Dr. Qi (Tony) Zhou received a NIH/NIAID R01 grant for his project titled “Combating Deadly Gram-negative Lung Infections: An Inhalation and Systems Approach"

Dr. Byrn has published a new book

Dr. Stephen Byrn with coauthors George Zografi and Xiaoming (Sean) Chen have published a new book entitled Solid State Properties of Pharmaceutical Materials. The publisher is John Wiley and Sons. He continues his teaching endeavors in Africa. Also Dr. Byrn has been appointed as the director of the Center of Drug Abuse Deterrence in NIPTE.

Dr. Yoon Yeo receives a NIH/NIBIB R01 Administrative Supplement for Participation in the Concept to Clinic: Commercializing Innovation (C3i) Program

Dr. Yoon Yeo has received a NIH/NIBIB R01 Administrative Supplement for Participation in the Concept to Clinic: Commercializing Innovation (C3i) Program to support her effort to translate the albumin-coated nanocrystal systems (Abxtals) to commercial products.


Dr. Topp and LyoHUB launched a 10-year lyophilization technology roadmap

Dr. Elizabeth Topp stepped down as IPPH Department Head on July 1st after eight years in the role, returning to the faculty. Dr. Topp and LyoHUB launched a 10-year technology roadmap for lyophilization in September of 2017, completing a two-year process.
