Garnet E. Peck Symposium - Continuing Education Information

Purdue University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmaceutical education. This is a continuing education activity of Purdue University, an equal access/equal opportunity institution.

Universal Program Number (UPN): 018-000-07-119-L04-P, 4.5 CPE contact hours (0.45 CEU).

Goal: The goal of the symposium was to enable participants to increase their general knowledge in the various areas of pharmaceutical material science and tablet compression to determine areas in which more detailed study would enhance their research.

Learning Objectives: At the completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

  1. Understand and properly utilize some of the basic statistical concepts for the development and validation of NIR in content uniformity and blend uniformity
  2. Understand how a materials surface science approach is important to developing a means to characterize, control, stabilize, and optimize powder properties at every step in the manufacturing process
  3. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of Raman spectroscopy for crystallization monitoring
  4. Present the fundamentals of wet granulation and the techniques for monitoring and controlling the processes
  5. Explain the practical and theoretical limitations of accurate prediction of compact hardness of tablets with nondestructive spectroscopic methods
  6. Discuss the advantages of using NIR spectroscopy to determine drug content in tablets and the steps needed to develop a NIR method to determine content uniformity

Procedure to obtain Statement of Credit: You are required to attend the entire conference to receive Continuing Education credit. At the conclusion of the seminar, you are required to complete the CE Registration/Evaluation Form. Purdue Pharmacy Continuing Education will mail a statement of credit to the address listed on the CE Registration within four weeks of the program's completion.
